What parents usually notice first
A child who freezes before tests rarely hands you the cause. Sometimes it is a mark that has grown larger than life. Sometimes a talk where the voice disappears. Sometimes the body that starts rehearsing the night before anything is graded.
“Exam anxiety” bunches exhaustion into a word. It is a description, not a stamp. Underneath can sit too much material, a hard glance, thin confidence, or a school that only counts. Coaching sorts. It does not name a disorder.
What often helps at home — and what turns up the heat
What often helps: a fixed, small slice instead of “do it all again”. A clock that does not negotiate. Not an interrogation after the paper. What raises pressure: making the child the exam story in front of relatives, “you could do so much”, humour that humiliates.
Telling the teacher without turning the child into a case is work. Some hear it. Coaching does not magically change the timetable. It can give you language.
When a kids coach is the useful next step
When the night before classwork owns the flat, the book stays shut, you stop sleeping — an outsider can take heat out. In Berlin I work in person. The frame sits on the exam anxiety landing. If Berlin is too far, online sessions use the same topic page.
Where coaching stops
I do not treat an anxiety disorder and I do not promise a mark. If a specialist service recommends therapy or there is danger, that belongs in other hands. Practical questions: the FAQ.
