What kids and youth coaching means

My name is Aylin Yonca. I offer in-person kids life coaching in Berlin and online coaching in English or German for families across Germany and worldwide, including Dubai.

  • A protected space without pressure, where your child can settle in
  • Conversation, drawing, role play and short exercises — age-appropriate
  • Parents stay in the process; the child keeps a space of their own
More about the approach

Children and teenagers do not always have to explain immediately what is going on inside them. Sometimes the right words are missing. They need someone who listens carefully, takes their experience seriously and shows a next step they can actually use.

The aim is not to change your child, to label them or to promise that difficult feelings will disappear. It is to strengthen understanding, everyday skills and confidence one manageable step at a time.

Before the first child session we clarify the reason for coaching, agree on a realistic focus and stay in contact about helpful next steps.

How I can support

  • Self-worth and confidence

When children quickly doubt themselves, we turn to strengths and reachable next steps — without pressure to be perfect.

  • Emotional regulation

When anger, sadness or excitement becomes too big, we practise noticing feelings early, naming them and expressing them more appropriately.

  • Fears and worries in everyday life

Worries about school, mistakes or change are looked at gently, with small realistic steps.

The coaching does not treat diagnosed anxiety disorders and does not replace psychotherapy.

  • Learning strategies and school life

We look at what makes learning harder and find practical ideas for mornings, lessons and homework.

  • A constructive mindset

Not pushing feelings aside, but placing setbacks realistically and finding a useful next step.

  • Attention and concentration

When staying with a task or finding structure is hard, we look for everyday ways to gain orientation.

The coaching does not include diagnostics or the treatment of attention disorders.

  • Friendships and social skills

We practise expressing needs, noticing boundaries and finding safe ways to ask an adult for help.

  • Dealing with conflict

Instead of withdrawal or impulse, we look for clearer, more respectful reactions in difficult moments.

  • Parent-child communication

When the same conflicts keep returning, we find clearer language and small changes that support home life.

  • Change, transitions and resilience

A move, a new school or life between countries: space to find orientation and feel capable again.

What coaching is not

  • No diagnostics

I do not make medical or psychological diagnoses and I do not give your child therapeutic labels.

  • No promise of healing

Coaching can accompany development. It cannot guarantee specific changes or outcomes.

  • No substitute for therapy

Kids and youth coaching does not replace psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment or medical care.

If your child has severe, persistent or rapidly worsening symptoms, is in crisis, or may be at risk, please contact a qualified professional. If coaching is not the right offer, I will say so openly.

Who is the coaching suitable for?

For children from age 6 and teenagers with everyday personal, school or social challenges.

  • would like to develop more trust in themselves
  • has difficulty expressing big feelings
  • feels under pressure or unsure in school life
  • feels unsure in friendships or groups
  • needs to find their bearings again after a change
  • does not currently require urgent, diagnostic or clinical treatment
More about whether it is a fit
  • needs support with learning organisation and concentration
  • has worries about mistakes or new situations
  • is quickly overwhelmed in conflicts
  • would like to express needs and boundaries more clearly
  • can take part in short conversations and playful, age-appropriate activities
  • has parents or caregivers who can support small steps between sessions

Together we can decide whether meeting in Berlin or working online is the better fit — and whether my coaching matches your concern.

If another form of support would be safer, I will say so openly. In an emergency or acute mental-health crisis, please contact the emergency services or an appropriate professional in your country.

Child-friendly support, wherever your family lives

Families in Berlin meet in person. Online sessions are available in Germany, Dubai and worldwide — from a familiar setting, without extra travel.

How sessions work

Whether Berlin or online, sessions are personal and interactive. Your child will not sit through a lecture: we use conversation, paper, pencils and simple activities adapted to the format.

Frequently asked questions about kids coaching

What is a kids life coach?

A kids life coach supports children with practical, everyday goals such as understanding emotions, building confidence, handling school stress and communicating more clearly. Coaching is forward-looking and skills-based. It is not psychotherapy, diagnosis or medical treatment.

What age is kids life coaching suitable for?

The right fit depends less on one exact age than on the child's needs, development and willingness to take part. Before booking, we discuss whether the format and my coaching approach are suitable for your child.

Can online coaching work with children?

Online sessions can work well when they are interactive and adapted to the child. I use drawing, visual prompts, stories and practical exercises rather than expecting a child to talk continuously. A familiar setting at home can also help some children settle more easily. For families in Berlin, in-person coaching is available as an alternative.

Do parents attend the sessions?

The process starts with a parent conversation. Depending on the child's age and needs, a parent may help at the beginning or with practical setup. Child sessions usually create space for the child, while separate parent feedback keeps adults appropriately involved.

What can coaching help my child with?

Families commonly seek support for confidence, emotional regulation, worries, school stress, friendship challenges, communication and adjustment to change. Coaching goals are agreed individually and are never based on a guaranteed result.
