Screen-time clashes: what parents can do — without a diagnosis

A home-week piece: how device wars show up, what turns the volume up, when a kids coach in Berlin is a sensible next step — no addiction stamp, no detox myth.

What the behaviour might be asking for — without a diagnosis

The device is often pause, belonging, status, an exit from homework. Sometimes the chat is where bullying continues. Coaching sorts. It does not name an addiction.

What often helps at home, and what turns up the pressure

Helps: a clock that is not up for debate. Devices sleeping outside the bedroom. Adults who are not scrolling while they preach. Pressure: a sudden total ban after a bad mark. Public shaming. Different rules per parent with no conversation.

When in-person coaching in Berlin is the better fit

When the evening is only negotiation. Offer.

When online coaching from Dubai or Germany makes sense

Dubai, Germany, online. FAQ, packages.

Limits: coaching is not therapy

No detox promise. Danger, sleeplessness, a clear professional service: other hands.

Screens are rarely the only topic. They are often the loudest. After school, when hunger and shame meet, “one more round” becomes a war. Some children explode — see angry outbursts. Some disappear into chats that hurt — see bullying. Coaching does not install a phone ban as a personality. It looks for rules that still hold tomorrow, and adults who do not give in from exhaustion and then go harder the next day.

I do not promise a digital detox in four weeks. I offer a frame where parent and child practise sentences that are not only morals. That starts before a child sits with me: in the parent conversation, where we hear which device buys peace and which one wrecks the evening.

Many Berlin evenings do not end at the device; they end in negotiation. A rule that only exists in anger is spotted at once. Better a clock that is not up for debate — and adults who are not scrolling while they preach.

You do not choose a package first. Conversation first, then — if it fits — a frame in Berlin or on a screen, in English or German. Kids life coaching stays support, not treatment.

The device is rarely the whole conflict. It is the loudest. After school it buys ten minutes of peace and spends the evening. Parents who give in from exhaustion and go harder the next day already know the child. A clock that is not up for debate is duller than a lecture on media literacy — and often more holdable.

Sleep outside the bedroom, adults who are not scrolling while they preach: unspectacular. That is the frame in which coaching even makes sense. No addiction claim, no diet in four weeks.

A clear next step

If this is your dinner table: a parent conversation. Kids life coaching is not psychotherapy and not medical treatment.

Questions parents ask

Should I just switch the wifi off?

Sometimes as an emergency brake, rarely as a lasting plan. Without a conversation the child only stores the war. Better a rule that still holds tomorrow.

When is coaching wrong?

When there is danger, a clear professional service, or the child refuses all contact.

Is this tied to anger?

Often as a fuse. Read [angry outbursts](/en/services/wutanfaelle) without blaming the device for everything.
